Banedanmark has chosen MT Højgaard to renew and improve 56 railway bridges on the line between Ringsted and Rødby. This project is connected with the ongoing civil engineering work, renewal and change of the railway line in connection with the Fehmarn project, which upgrades the entire line from Copenhagen to Rødby.

The project involves primarily bridges which are to carry the railway across roads and streams, but also 16 bridges which carry roads across the railway line. A total of 26 new bridges are to be built whereas the rest are to be extended or renovated. The bridges must be ready for use in mid 2020.

Apart from the price, Banedanmark has attached importance to the technical solutions offered, execution, time schedule and safety. MT Højgaard can draw on its extensive experience from the construction, renewal and improvement of numerous bridges, not only in Denmark but in several other countries.

- We are delighted to join this very exciting infrastructure project. Its composition and complexity yet again emphasise MT Højgaard’s strong competences and competitiveness, says Executive Vice President Jesper Nordby, MT Højgaard.

The contract value is DKK 452 million. The conclusion of the final contract awaits the expiry of the usual standstill period on 18 March 2016. The contract awarded will have a positive impact on the Group’s revenue and result, but will not give rise to any changes to previously announced expectations to the economic development. Forward-looking statements are inherently subject to risk and uncertainty which may cause actual developments to differ materially from the guidance provided.
